Pandit Shankarrao Vyas (23 January 1898[1] – 17 December 1956[2] ) was a Hindustani musician. He was one of the foremost disciples of Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. He, along with Shri N. M. Khare, set up a board in the year 1931 that was then named Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal and which is today known as Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal[3]. This board was set up to continue the work started by Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar to promote and propagate Indian Classical Music throughout India. In June 1937, he and his younger brother, Pandit Narayanrao Vyas, founded The Vyas Academy Of Indian Music, also known as Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya[4] : a school for Hindustani classical music in Dadar, India.
