The Mosque of Arnā’ūt was a complex in Tal Afar.It was also known as Husseinyeh Mullah Mahmoud. [1]
Destruction of the mosque and shrine
The mosque was destroyed by ISIL in 2014 as part of a plan to destroy historic shrines in Tal Afar, Mosul and Nineveh.[2]Explosives were planted at the tomb, completely destroying the green dome as well as the shrine under it and several graves in the cemetery next to the shrine. However, a minor part of the complex was not destroyed.
