Synthesis Design + Architecture[1] (also known as SDA), is an award-winning architecture and design firm based in Los Angeles, California led by Alvin Huang. The firm is known for challenging convention through it's innovative use of emerging design technologies and experimental processes in contemporary architectural practice[2].

Notable projects include the 3D-printed Durotaxis Chair for Stratasys[3], the data-driven Data Moire installation for IBM Watson[4], the CNC-milled Chelsea Workspace[5], the experimental DRL10 Pavilion in London[6], the solar-powered Pure Tension Pavilion for Volvo Cars[7], and the Groove at CentralWorld in Bangkok[8].

The firm has been recognized with over 30 awards[9] at the international, national, and local levels including being honored with the Presidential Emerging Practice Award by the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles Chapter in 2016[10], being selected as one of 50 global innovators under the age of 50 by Images Publishing in 2015 [11], receiving the R+D Award from Architect Magazine in 2015[12], and being featured as a Next Progressive by Architect Magazine in 2014[13].
