Synthesis Design + Architecture[1] (also known as SDA), is an award-winning architecture and design firm based in Los Angeles, California led by Alvin Huang[2]. The firm is known for challenging convention through it's innovative use of emerging design technologies and experimental processes in contemporary architectural practice[3].

Notable projects include the 3D-printed Durotaxis Chair for Stratasys[4], the data-driven Data Moire installation for IBM Watson[5], the CNC-milled Chelsea Workspace[6], the experimental DRL10 Pavilion in London[7], the solar-powered Pure Tension Pavilion for Volvo Cars[8], and the Groove at CentralWorld in Bangkok[9].

The firm has been recognized with over 30 awards[10] at the international, national, and local levels including being honored with the Presidential Emerging Practice Award by the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles Chapter in 2016[11], being selected as one of 50 global innovators under the age of 50 by Images Publishing in 2015 [12], receiving the R+D Award from Architect Magazine in 2015[13], and being featured as a Next Progressive by Architect Magazine in 2014[14].
