Broadway is the CPU in Nintendo's Wii video game console. It was designed by IBM and will be produced using a 90nm SOI process which will allow the chip to draw 20% less power compared to the Gekko.[1] Production of final version has started, and Broadway is being produced by IBM at their 300mm semiconductor development and manufacturing facility in East Fishkill, N.Y.[1] Very few details have been released to the public by Nintendo or IBM on this processor.

Specifications

  • A 90-nanometer process technology[1]
  • Features a Power Architecture core specially modified for the Wii platform.[1]
  • The chips will feature IBM Silicon on Insulator (SOI) technology which will allow the chip to draw 20% less power compared to the Gekko.[1]
  • It was confirmed that the CPU has been manufactured and have been shipping to Nintendo since July of 2006. [citation needed]
