Andrew J. McKean (born June 23, 1949) is an American politician in the state of Iowa.
McKean attended State University of New York at Oneonta, the University of Rhode Island, and University of Iowa and is a lawyer. A former Republican, he served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1979 to 1993 (23rd district from 1979 to 1983 and 44th district from 1983 to 1993) and the Iowa Senate from 1993 to 2003 (28th district).[1] McKean returned to serving in the Iowa House of Representatives in 2017.[2]
On April 23, 2019, McKean announced his change of party affiliation from Republican to Democratic.[2] He cited President Donald Trump and the growing partisanship of Republicans as his reasons for the decision.[3]
