Olukoya Ogen is a Nigerian Professor of History and former Provost[1] of Adeyemi College of Education Nigeria He was born on the 5th of September, 1968. He obtained both his M.A. and PhD degrees in History from the University of Lagos in 1998 and 2006 respectively.

Olukoya Ogen, (born in September 1968) is a Nigerian Professor of History and former Provost[2] of Adeyemi College of Education Nigeria. He obtained both his M.A. and PhD degrees in History from the University of Lagos in 1998 and 2006 respectively. As a specialist in Economic History and International Economic Relations, he obtained a professional Certificate in Trade, Growth and Poverty from the World Bank Institute, Washington, D.C. in 2006.

Professional Career

Prof Ogen started his academic career as a Graduate Fellow at the University of Lagos in 2000. He moved to Adekunle Ajasin University in 2001 and received the Adekunle Ajasin University Commendation in 2003 for exemplary performance. In March 2006, the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife appointed him as Lecturer Grade II and was later upgraded to Lecturer Grade I. In September 2009, he was appointed Associate Professor by Osun State University, and in October 2012 he became a Professor of History. He also had a stint as a Guest Researcher at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone in 2011, and was an ACLS Scholar-in-Residence at the Office of International Programmes, University of Ibadan in 2012. He also served as an Associate Expert with the UNESCO Category 2 of Institute of African Culture and International Understanding from 2013-2016[3].

Honours and Recognitions

Professor Ogen has received several fellowship, awards and recognisions, such as Lifetime Achievement Award by ICTID[4], [5]Endowed Professor of Education[6], Award of Excellence by National Institute of Nigerian Languages, Special Letter of Recommendation from Nigerian Senate he was also appointed Honourary Mayor of the City of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA
