Memphis World as an African American newspaper founded in Memphis Tennessee in 1931. Lewis O. Swingler was the paper's editor. W.A..Scott and L.F. Scott were its publishers.[1] Educator and activist Estes Kefauver had a column in the paper. The World closed in 1973.[2]

The paper advocated for various civil rights causes.[3]
