Avraham "Avi" Rikan (Hebrew: אבי ריקן; born September 10, 1988) is an Israeli football player who plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv. He has also played for Maccabi Herzliya, Hapoel Petah Tikva, Beitar Jerusalem and FC Zürich.[1] At international level, Rikan was capped at levels from under-17 to senior team.[2]

Early life

Rikan was born in the Israeli settlement Ma'ale Adumim, to a Sephardic Jewish family.[3]

Style of play

Rikan is a versatile box-to-box player, who is capable of playing anywhere in midfield, he has been used as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder, and even utilized as a Left back on occasion. A hard-working player, with notable stamina and an ability to read the game with a positive and direct approach of bringing the ball forward. In addition to his creative and defensive midfield roles, Rikan also possesses a keen eye for goal, due to his ability to find space and make attacking runs into the area, or produce accurate and powerful shots from distance.
