A personal essay on a non-topic. Some of the writing is good, though, and can find a home in "War on Terrorism." 172 12:13, 29 Jul 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete: "Some say...." Until those persons can be named, this is a personal essay. It's also a report on a very ill-informed point of view, one that agrees with al-Qaeda's arguments and ignores the emergence of the Islamacist movement and the fact that political states are not involved and the fact that there is nothing "cold" about a war that has involved three full-scale military engagements. • Agree with George. This article can be salvaged if it is made into an entry about the commentators who make this "the Second Cold War" argument. 172 12:32, 29 Jul 2004 (UTC)
    • I'm so glad someone else takes issue with "Some say...." Delete, hopefully with the intention of rewriting. -Seth Mahoney 07:18, Aug 2, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. The term "Second Cold War" turns up a fair number of Google hits (as a rerun of the "First Cold War" -- i.e., a conflict between USA and Russia and/or China), but not in the sense intended by the author of Second Cold War. So the use of the term is idiosyncratic, and the article itself is an essay. Just dump this article until somebody comes along to write about the way other people use the term. Wile E. • Delete: I agree with everything George said, this is POV and ill-informed. What's more, it omits all Arab terrorism prior to the 1990s and appears to attempt to label any US or Western actions as being religiously-motivated while condoning the actions of Al-Qaeda and others as reasonable response to US foreign policy. Possibly salvageable with a big rewrite, but I don't think this deserves its own article, rather a footnote in one of the Al-Qaeda articles as an attributable viewpoint. Impi 08:10, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Just another POV, delete unless accurate sourcs for these quotes can be found and are significant. -- Hackerjack 15:31, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Author's right, "Second Cold War" is a sometimes used term ([1], [2]) for the culture clash between Western and Islamic radical ideology. Salasks 21:13, Aug 2, 2004 (UTC)
