This article is about city in Africa. For military rank of the Red Army, see Combat (military rank).

Kombat is a small town at the southern margin of the Otavi Mountainland in northern Namibia. It lies on the road between Otavi and Grootfontein. There was a copper mine in the town in the 1960's and 1970's, operated by the Tsumeb Corporation Limited but whether this mine is still in operation is unclear. The name of the town had nothing to do with "combat'. It is derived from a native word meaning "the place of the giraffe" or "giraffes drinking" or a similar expression. The surrounding areas of bush are vast and not densely inhabited and in the early 1970s a few giraffe still roamed freely in the district, along with kudu, eland and a few other large animals. Apart from mining, the principle economic activity in the area is the raising of cattle.
