Bobby Rush (musician)

Bobby Rush (born November 10, 1940) is an American blues and R&B musician, composer and singer. He was born Emmit Ellis Jr. in Homer, Louisiana. His family relocated to Chicago in 1953, where he became part of the local blues scene. He is a purveyer of the Soul blues sound. He sometimes also uses elements from rap and funk. 2004's "FolkFunk" was a return to a more rootsier sound and came out on a German label. He appears in the mini series The Blues, produced by Martin Scorsese.
