Roland Ewubare (born 10 April 1957) is a retired international business leader who has held top management roles in Nigeria and the United States.

Education

Mr. Roland Onoriode Ewubare obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ife, Nigeria in 1987; a Master of Laws degree in International Business Law from the Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London in 1993; and a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School in 1998.

Business career

Mr. Roland Onoriode Ewubare started his career at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates, commonly known as Skadden or sometimes Skadden Arps, an international law firm based in New York City in June 1998 and he worked there till September 2000. In that time, he was involved in significant transactions for some of the world’s largest corporations including the 1999 ExxonMobil merger with deal consideration in excess of US$80 Billion. It was the largest Corporate Merger in the world at the time.


In September 2000, he started work at Schlumberger/NPTest where he served in various senior positions including the General counsel and Secretay of Schlumberger/NPTest in California, United States. He worked there until 2003 when he moved to Schlumberger Nigeria. He served as the Country Executive Director (Oilfield Services) for Schlumberger Nigeria until 2004.


He worked at 567 investments Ltd from 2004-2008 when he was nominated by President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua (GCFR), then president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to serve as Executive Commissioner at the Nigerian Law Reform Commission (NLRC). In December 2008, he was confirmed by the Senate[1]. He served in that role till he resigned in 2011 to return to the United States to resume a private equity career.

He worked at Creekside Capital Partners from August 2011 to December 2013 and went on to found Madison Avenue Resources Inc. a private equity firm based in Atlanta, Georgia in 2014.


In 2015, he joined NNPC Nigeria and quickly worked his way up to a managerial position. Becoming Group General Manager (GGM) of The National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) in 2017[2] [3]following a reshuffle of several senior NNPC officials by the Federal Government. In 2019, he became Chief Operating Officer (COO) Upstream[4] and later that year became the Chief Operating Officer of Joint Ventures and Business Development at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

In June 2020 he resigned from the position of Chief Operating Officer at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) citing personal reasons[5].
