Editor's Barnstar

A Barnstar!
The Editor's Barnstar

I award Nv8200p this barnstar for his efforts in deleting thousands of unsourced, unknown copyright images from Wikipedia. It's a mammoth task. Blnguyen | rant-line 01:59, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to you

Hi, Mr. Moore. I didn't know where else to say this, so this is where it's gonna be, for now.

My name is Aidan Grey, and I'm the Photography Coordinator for Home&Abroad, http://www.homeandabroad.com . I just wanted to say thanks a million to you. Your photos of sites in the Asutin area (as well as others) have been a great boon to my task - finding a photo to go with a recommended site. Austin is under development now, and your name will appear beneath every picture we use, but you can see your image of the Denver Mint on our website at the moment. I just thought you deserved to know your images are getting seen elsewhere too, and they're greatly appreciated!

Thanks again!

Aidan Grey (you can contact me through our website)

Image Question

I have come to you in the past for some image questions before and I have another one. I am asking some users at Flickr if I can use some of their images of celebrities for pages that don't have a main image, or ones that need improved images. How would I credit the author if I get permission to use the image, and which license should I use (since there are two licenses about the author giving permission)? Also, is there anything else I need to include in the image description page (perhaps a link to the picture on the author's Flickr account)? Let me know whenever it's convenient for you. --Nehrams2020 23:55, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, for more clarification, on this page which license applies to each section? Or which sections can/can't be used on Wikipedia? Also, if they are listed here, do I still need to contact the original author for permission since they are included in the creative commons? Or are they automatically entitled to be used (while still giving credit to the author of the image)? --Nehrams2020 07:21, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Backlog of Image Deleteions

Hey there...

Thanks for taking on that backlog of deletions at IfD. It is thankless, unglamrous work that needs to get done. I am not sure if it is just the holidays or if this place needs more admins.

Any chance you would want to take on Category:Images with unknown source or Category:Images with unknown copyright status. :-) Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 03:00, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship

Thanks for your comments about my nomination and discussion rationale - I like to think I am balanced when it comes to my understanding of policy and guidelines. With regards to becoming an admin, I would never self-nominate, I personally think it is poor form - thats just me. I also would never ask someone to nominate me, basically it aint any different then doing it yourself. I would gladly accept a nomination if one was ever brought forward. I would like think I would be good and level headed. I did have a couple of tiffs with people early on, but I think I have matured, have a better understanding of the P&Gs and the concept of concensus rather then right or wrong. Have a good evening. --Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 03:48, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

:Image:PETA dumpster incident dead animal retrieval.jpg on deletion review

An editor has asked for a deletion review of [[::Image:PETA dumpster incident dead animal retrieval.jpg]]. Since you closed the deletion discussion for (or speedy-deleted) this article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. --BigDT 03:37, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I applaud you for closing the contentious discussion, but I feel that no valid justification for using this image as fair use was ever presented and that it would open a slippery slope to using any media photo of any past event. (After all, most media photos are of past, one-time, events - otherwise, it's not news.) I believe it is necessary to ask for a review because allowing these images would create a dangerous precedent of using non-free images, but I wanted to make it clear that it is without any implication that I believe you to have done something wrong or anything like that. Help with no rationale images

Hi. Can you tell me what should be done with images that are used under fair use but have no rationale and were uploaded before May 4, 2006? These images don't meet CSD I6, but all I6 says is to contact to user to ask them to put a rationale on there. What happens if they don't? What happens if they aren't around anymore? BTW, I'm asking you because I saw you were a image deleting admin so I figured you would be the best source for this. If not, if you could at least point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thank you. --MECUtalk 17:24, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An IP address just placed this link: [1] as an External Link to Veronica Finn. Given the fact that it's intentionally for promotional purposes (and actually helps substantiate some more facts in the article) is this an okay external link? Or link spam? -WarthogDemon 03:48, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delition nomination

Image:100 0204.JPG Why would you want to delete this image without any reason.

Thanks
