The University of New South Wales Press Ltd. (UNSW)[1] is an Australian academic book publishing company launched in 1962.[2] The ACNC not-for-profit entity[3] entity engages in retail book sales, distribution and representation and – primarily – book publishing.  Based in Coogee[4] it operates under the labels NewSouth and UNSW Press[5]. Primary subjects covered include: contemporary issues, ecology, natural history and social issues.[6]

In 2007, the UNSW was awarded $47m+ by the Australian Research Council Grants as well as nearly $30m from the National Health and Medical Research Council.[7] In the same year it received the highest funding of any state from the NSW Government for cancer research. Since 2010 its books have been published with the addition of a digital format option.[8] In 2012 UNSW Press celebrated its 50th anniversary[9] and launched the UNSW Bragg Prize for Science Writing.[10] That year the book ‘Sex, Genes & Rock ‘n’ Roll by Rob Brooks and published by UNSW received the Science Writers Prize at the Queensland Literary Awards.[11]
