Grace Beverley is an entrepreneur and founder of the direct-to-consumer fitness brands TALA and Shreddy.[1] She launched both businesses while studying as an undergraduate at St Peter's College, Oxford, without any external investment.[2] Both companies' visibility has benefitted from the significant Instagram and YouTube following which Beverly amassed on her personal social media accounts as a student under the moniker GraceFitUK.[2]

Early life and education

Beverley was born Grace Margaret Beverley in London, England, on February 16 1997 to parents Victoria and Peter. She is the third of four daughters, and younger sister to Flora Beverley (an environmental writer and social media consultant).

Beverley attended St Paul's Girls' School in west London,[3] and as a teenager was Dean's Chorister (head chorister) at Salisbury Cathedral.[4] She went on to gain a choral scholarship at St Peter's College, Oxford,[3] where she studied music as an undergraduate, graduating in 2019.[5]

Businesses

TALA

TALA is a clothing brand selling sustainably made and ethically produced activewear and athleisure clothing.[6] Most garments are made from recycled materials such as plastic bottles upcycled into yarn, or factory offcuts.[6] TALA is promoted as a transparent and affordable option for those looking for sustainable and high quality activewear. It was launched in 2019 (as Beverley was finishing her final university exams) and turned over £5.2 million in its first year.[7] Beverley is the founder and CEO.[8]

Shreddy

Shreddy is a fitness app and equipment brand. Users pay a monthly fee to access exercise classes and meal plans on the app, and can buy branded equipment required to complete the classes.[9] Beverley is the founder and CEO.[10]

Some equipment now sold under the Shreddy umbrella brand was originally designed for one of Beverley's previous businesses, B_ND, which focussed on retailing resistance bands for home and gym use. The B_ND concept was assimilated into the Shreddy brand in 2020.[11][12]

Publications

Beverley wrote her first book in 2020, titled "Working Hard, Hardly Working: Redefining Productivity in the Modern World." The publisher Penguin have announced the publication date for April 2021.[13]
