Reorganisation[edit]

Is this structure any better or should we just go back to the straight chronological list? TerriersFan (talk) 16:53, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Current organization[edit]

This is just a note that comes out of a discussion on my talk page. The current, sectioned format, is not supported by the WP:DELSORT project's automated sorting tools. As a regular sorter, given the sheer volume of pages to sort, I have no inclination to sort without the tool. I do still sort to here with the tool, but the tool just places things in the top section of the page. It looks like User:TerriersFan, with whom I had the discussion on my talk page, is then occasionally moving things to the sub-categories. So the question is, what are the options going forward?

  1. Continue as current. Tool-using sorters drop things at the top section, and page regulars move them down is inclined to do so.
  2. Tool users do not use tools to sort to this page, instead do it manually. I know that, in my case, the response would be to skip sorting to the school page at all. Sorry.
  3. Try to get the tool updated. Could be looked into, but I suspect that the answer will be no to specializing the tool for the use on one page out of many.
  4. Remove the sections from this page. I suspect that this is a non-starter from this page's POV. :)
  5. Sub-divide the page. This one is a wild idea that has been tickling around in my head since I had the discussion with TerriersFan. Some sort of possibility of separate DELSORT pages for the separate sections currently on the page, and maybe a transcluded page to get close to the all-in-one you have now.

The last idea is quite possibly far more trouble than it's worth, but I wanted to toss it out to be discussed. - TexasAndroid (talk) 15:04, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Huh. I guess I should be following your talk page :-). I'm a firm supporter of the delsort tool, and I also understand TerriersFan wanting them broken into section. So, that means I'm in support of the following proposals:
  • Continue as current.
  • Remove sections.
  • Subdivide the page into more categories.
I'm with whichever one of these TerriersFan feels is best- mainly because I respect the amount of time he spends here. tedder (talk) 18:35, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I created the sections last year because many editors are interested in commenting on actual schools and colleges but much less so on much of the flotsam that this category attracts when we get a rush of schools related deletions. Basically, I am quite relaxed about the way forward. I have no problem with doing the section sorting, by hand, when I'm on. I think the initial question is; do editors find the sections useful? The answer to that will frame our approach. TerriersFan (talk) 02:48, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I either watch a page or I don't, so sections are less important to me. In other words, I'd rather see /Schools and /School_groups or just remove the sections altogether. tedder (talk) 23:39, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
