Bud the pit bull was the first dog to travel across America in a car as a part of the first journey via automobile across the United States in 1903. [1] His partners were Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson and mechanic Sewell Crocker, but Bud, rocking “goggles” along the way, received more attention than they did from the media. Bud’s goggles are currently on display in the Smithsonian Institute.[2]
