Goldfield has served as President and CEO of TriNet, a strategic partner to small businesses for payroll, HR, benefits, employment law compliance and risk reduction.

Early Career

Burton started his career in the technology sector at Rational Software(RATL), a software developer active since the early 1980s. Joining Rational in 1989, he played a critical role in growing the company’s domestic and international sales capabilities. Following Rational’s acquisition by IBM in 2002, he continued to market and sell Rational products globally as a vice president with IBM. From IBM, Mr. Goldfield weaved through successful terms as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations for Hyperion Solutions from 2004 to 2006. He was CEO of Ketera Technologies from 2006 to 2008 before assuming his current role at TriNet.

Work at TriNet

Within the first three years at TriNet, Burton Goldfield more than doubled revenues and customers. Under his leadership TriNet grew from $100 million in revenues to $500 million. The company went public in March 2014[1]. With offices throughout America, TriNet serves more than 11,000 clients with 288,000+ worksite employees (as of 3/31/15). To expand TriNet’s market reach and strengthen the company’s ability to serve more clients than ever before, he led the company to acquire Gevity[2], AccordHR[3], SOI, ExpenseCloud[4] and Ambrose[5]. In addition, Burton invested heavily in the company’s Software-as-a-Service SaaS technology platform, leveraging his background from as well as IBM Corporation's Rational Software.

Burton received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from Villanova University.
