Silver professors are named by New York University. Silver Professors are chosen in recognition of their many accomplishments, as well as their exemplary commitment to undergraduate education. The professorships are officially called "The Julius Silver, Roslyn S. Silver, and Enid Silver Winslow Professorships" and are the product of a 2002 bequest made by the estate of Julius Silver.
