Summary

Description
English: World Map of Y-Chromosome Haplogroups - Dominant Haplogroups in Pre-Colonial Populations with Possible Migrations Routes

Behance page

Notes:

  1. The Y-DNA haplogroup(s) with the highest % in that area (or is notable)
  2. Population/language/region name in which the haplogroup is the majority or the genetic marker of movement
  3. Migration routes are drawn according to Coastal Migration model (initially coastal route, then follow major rivers)
  4. the indication of "Y-chromosome Adam" near Cameroon is inspired by the discovery of basal A00 and A0 in 2013
  5. A few populations with no data available (extinct) are marked "?"
  6. Haplogroup names of YCC 2002 are used for clarity (names change every year)

Inspired by

This biogeographical map image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “World Map of Y-DNA Haplogroups.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
