A northern Ojibwa (Mushkegowuk or Swampy People) First Nation located in the north of the Canadian province of Ontario.

History

Their territory is located within the land area of Treaty 9 and obviously the 1850 Robinson Treaty. They did not fully take treaty until the 1905 treaty 9. Their land was and still is, not suitable for agriculture. They were hostile towards the whites who they knew could not be trusted. Many southern Ojibwa's, fled up to the north where they merged with the northern Ojibwa's (Swampy People), in the 19th century. These Muskegoes currently have no land supposedly. Their population is supposedly only 11. They are members of the Matawa First Nations.
