The protest concerns the government decision to raise the water-level of the Omkareshwar Dam. The residents of low-lying villages, who have been affected by the resultant flooding, feel that sufficient assistance has not been provided to them by the Government of India[2].
The protest began on Saturday April 11th 2015 [3] and involves around fifty local residents [4]. The Jal Satyagraha is supported by the Narmada Bachao Andolan and the government opposition Aam Aadmi Party [5].
