Johnson County Middle School is a public middle school located in Paintsville, Kentucky. The school has 44 teachers and 565 students in grades 7-8, with a student-teacher ratio of 1:15.[1] It is part of the Johnson County School District.[2]

The school is known both statewide and worldwide for its academic team. It has won the Kentucky Governor's Cup twelve times (1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015), the most wins of any other middle school in the state. It has also placed first in international FPS in 2004 and 2008,[3] and runner up in the National Academic Championships in 2012. The team is coached by Pamela Burton.

In addition to outstanding academic success, the 7th grade Eagle Football program has finished either tops in the state or runner-up in the past 3 years, winning their lone state title in the 2012 season.
