Luis Roberto Conriquez[2] is a Mexican musician of regional Mexican music who specializes in Sinaloa-style genres. He would rise to prominence in 2023 for collaborating with fellow singer Peso Pluma, on "Siempre Pendientes", which went viral at the beginning of the year; its music video was controversial, but was commercially successful.

Career

In 2019, after quitting his full-time job at a gas station, Conriquez focused on writing songs.[3] It led to him signing to the independent label Kartel Music, where he began releasing several singles, including "El Buho", which reached the top 10 on the US Regional Mexican Airplay chart.[4]

In 2022, Conriquez collaborated with La Adictiva on "JGL", which peaked atop the US Regional Mexican Airplay chart, in its fourth week.[5] Lyrically, the song praises drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.[6] In August 2022, Conriquez would collaborate with Peso Pluma on "Siempre Pendientes", which was commercially successful.[7] The song and its accompanied music video attained controversy; the song's lyrics mainly praised drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, while its music video, directed by Cesar Acosta, was removed from YouTube three days later due to public outrage, with over 2 million views in its first 24 hours on the platform.[8][9] Following the single's release, Conriquez would collaborate with Grupo Marca Registrada on "Puro Campeón".[10]

In 2024, Conriquez released Corridos Bélicos, Vol. IV, containing collaborations with Peso Pluma, Junior H, Gabito Ballesteros, Fuerza Regida, Natanael Cano, among others.[11]
