Manika Ward,[3] who performs as Manika (pronounced Ma-NEE-ka), is an Asian-Spanish musician and reality TV-show host.[4][5][6]

Biography

Manika was born in Las Vegas.[3]

From an early age, Manika was interested in music, singing, songwriting and taught herself piano and guitar.[7] She was discovered by former Michael Jackson manager Frank DiLeo.[8] She then graduated high school a year early to pursue her music and writing career.[9]

Manika supported One Direction on their 2012 North American tour.[10] She also performed at the Hollywood Style Awards,[11] and Pepsi's "Shop Til You Rock Tour" in 2011.[12][13] In 2015, Manika began filming a reality TV-show, "Global Beauty Masters", to air on the TLC.[14]

Manika's debut single was "Just Can't Let You Go" (featuring Lil Twist),[15] followed by "B.Y.O.Bugatti".[16]

At age 15, Manika wrote the children's book The Exciting Adventures of BOO, donating the proceeds to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and serving as their teen spokesperson.[17] Manika read the book to children in inner-city schools and hospitals. She later wrote a song about the experience, "Through the Eyes of the Young", which appeared on her first album, donating royalties to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.[18][unreliable source]
