'''Ogre''', who also goes by the name '''Toshin''' in Japanese and known as '''The God of Fighting''' by the ancient Aztecs, is a fictional [[video game character|character]] in the ''[[Tekken (series)|Tekken]]'' [[fighting game]] series. He is the main antagonist and the final boss of [[Tekken 3]]. When defeated, he transforms into the game's final boss, "True Ogre," by absorbing the [[qi|ki]] of either [[Heihachi Mishima]] or [[Jin Kazama]].

==Description==
===Appearance===
Ogre's first form resembles a tall, muscular humanoid with dark green skin. It wears various types of [[Aztec]] jewelry and a large golden helmet/headdress with long purple hair. It also has a small round shield attached to its left arm (The character [[Devil Jin]], can wear this item in the customization feature in [[Tekken 5]]).

Ogre's second form (True Ogre), stands not much taller than its first, but is hunched over to an extent. In this incarnation it barely resembles a human, with a large frame, dark brown fur, a monstrous face, a tail, wings, horns, and a snake in place of a right arm. All of the jewelry Ogre wore in its previous form disappear, save for one leg armlet. Also, in this form, the area surrounding him will become pitch black (In [[Tekken 3]]), or extremely dark (In the arcade version of [[Tekken Tag Tournament]]).

Ogre's third form (From [[Tekken 5]]'s [[Devil Within (Tekken 5)|Devil Within]] mode), is less of a drastic change from its first to second, but is much larger overall, appearing to be several stories high. In this form it is a golden and aqua color, and more closely resembles a large dragon or dinosaur. It features many more horns aligning its limbs and elongated head, and also has four large spikes protruding from the sides of its mouth. It is still unknown whether the events in ''Devil Within'' are part of Tekken canon or not.

===Personality===
Although Ogre appears to be a wild beast, it is actually a sentient being. Very little information is given on the character's personality or story, but what it does describe says that Ogre "understands entire structures of all living and artificial beings, and absorbs them". In its first form, Ogre is capable of speech (As seen in its winning animations), but speaks in an unknown language.

"The legend of Native Americans says the Ogre was the war weapon which creatures from outer space left on Earth in ancient time." ... "It wanders the Earth in search of strong souls." It is never explained what Ogre's true purpose and intentions are, and it never explains how Ogre came into contact with the [[Aztec]], who were said to worship him as a "Fighting God".

Ogre is first mentioned in [[Heihachi Mishima|Heihachi Mishima's]] character profile. It states that many years after Heihachi had reclaimed control of the [[Mishima Zaibatsu]], he formed the [[Tekken Force]], his own military group. One of the missions of the Tekken Force was to search an ancient temple located somewhere in [[Mexico]]. Soon after arriving there, Heihachi learned that his entire force had been obliterated by Ogre. Heihachi, having witnessed the power of Ogre sought to capture it in hopes of creating the ultimate life form.

According to official canon, Ogre attacked many world-renowned martial arts masters around the world. Because many characters from previous Tekken titles were not featured in [[Tekken 3]], it is believed that their disappearance is due to being a victim of Ogre. This is supported by the fact that Ogre's fighting style is completely formed by other character's fighting styles, many of which were those who did not appear among the cast of playable characters in [[Tekken 3]], such as [[Wang Jinrei]], [[List of characters in the Tekken series#Baek Doo San|Baek Doo San]], [[List of characters in the Tekken series#Bruce Irvin|Bruce Irvin]], [[Lee Chaolan]], and [[List of characters in the Tekken series#Kunimitsu|Kunimitsu]]. It was later revealed however, that the only Tekken fighters that Ogre attacked/killed were Baek doo San (whom he did not actually kill), the original [[King (Tekken)|King]], and [[Jun Kazama]], the mother of [[Jin Kazama]]. It is unknown if Kunimitsu was a victim of Ogre as she has not been featured in the plot of a Tekken game since [[Tekken 2]].

Sometime when Jin was fifteen, his mother warned him of an approaching evil (Ogre) and told him to seek refuge with his grandfather, Heihachi. Jin, wishing to protect his mother tried to defend her from Ogre, but was knocked unconscious. When Jin awoke, he found his home burned to the ground and his mother nowhere to be seen. It is unknown if Ogre actually killed Jun.
It is rumored that Jun was taken to the demon world by Devil Kazuya so that Ogre could not find her, but Jin is unaware.

Jin fled to his grandfather, Heihachi, as Jun had previously instructed. Heihachi made the decision to train the boy to become a powerful fighter, giving Jin hopes of extracting revenge on Ogre. Heihachi's goal however, was to make Jin powerful enough to lure Ogre to him.

Eventually, Heihachi announced the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 as a way to attract many powerful fighters. As planned, Ogre appeared at the tournament, but he was defeated by [[Paul Phoenix (Tekken)|Paul Phoenix]] (Explained in Paul's Tekken 4 prologue) before Heihachi could capture it. Also, Jin, presumably having discovered Heihachi's sinister intentions for the tournament, defeated Heihachi. Unknown to them however, Ogre was not killed, and morphed into a monstrous beast by absorbing the energy of Heihachi.

Ogre's second form (known as True Ogre in subsequent games), is capable of using all of its techniques from his previous form as well as the abilities to teleport, fly, and breathe fire. True Ogre was defeated by Jin, and a white orb of light was emitted from its body as it dissolved.

===[[Tekken 4]]===
Although Ogre was not present in the game, he appears briefly in Heihachi's prologue. This explains that, Heihachi devised a new plan to make himself the ultimate warrior by using the genes of Ogre that were collected after the fight with Jin. But Ogre's genome could only be integrated with the "Devil Gene", which Heihachi did not possess. He knew that Jin and the resurrected Kazuya did, so he announced The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 to lure both of them out.

===[[Tekken 5]]===
Ogre appears only in the minigame, [[Devil Within (Tekken 5)|Devil Within]], as a boss.

The plot details events that occur during the two month period between [[Tekken 4]] and [[Tekken 5]].
After Jin left the Hon-Maru after the final battle in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, he heard that his mother, Jun, was still alive at [[G Corporation]]. When Jin traveled to their labs, he found no trace of his mother, but instead discovered that G Corporation had either resurrected Ogre, or had simply discovered another Ogre. Beneath the labs were the remains of another ancient temple, where Jin battled True Ogre once again. Ogre fled to a deeper part of the ruins, and Jin followed it.

The deeper ruins are depicted as an other-worldly crystal-like labyrinth. The enemies Jin contended with were monsters and [[Mutant (fictional)|mutants]], who were likely minions of Ogre or guardians of the ruins. The boss of stage four is a giant contraption that uses a large white orb to attack. After Jin destroys this, it is revealed that he unwittingly broke the seal containing Ogre.

During the game's final stage, Jin battles True Ogre once again. Once it is defeated, it reveals yet another transformation. This form had new abilities to create giant whirlwinds and crush Jin under its large body, along with all of its previously used techniques.

According to the plot, Jin overcomes Ogre and is attacked by [[Jack (Tekken)|Jack]] robots, causing him to transform into [[Jin Kazama#Devil Jin|Devil Jin]].

==Other Roles==
In [[Tekken Tag Tournament]], Ogre appears as an unlockable character in his first two forms. Ogre also appears in [[Namco × Capcom]] in its first form as a boss. Note that the canonicity of both Namco × Capcom and Devil Within is unknown, while Tekken Tag Tournament is non-canon.

==Relationships==
Within the series canon, Ogre is directly connected to several other characters within the plot. Below is a brief summary of those characters and their individual relationship with Ogre.

===Family===
*Official canon describes Ogre as a war weapon left on earth by aliens in ancient times. It is unknown if Ogre is one of their species or simply a living weapon. If so, it is never explained what the purpose if for his existence.

*The storyline for the character [[List of characters in the Tekken series#Michelle Chang|Michelle Chang]] in [[Tekken (video game)|Tekken]] and [[Tekken 2]] state that both Heihachi and Kazuya sought a pendant that was in possession of Michelle's family. In those games, it never explained why Kazuya or Heihachi wanted the pendant. In [[Tekken 3]] however, the epilogue for [[List of characters in the Tekken series#Julia Chang|Julia Chang]] (Daughter of Michelle) reveals that the pendant has the power to control Ogre, which is why Heihachi desired it. It is unknown if this means Heihachi and Kazuya knew of Ogre's existence before [[Tekken 3]].

*The entity known in Tekken canon as "Devil (See [[Devil (Tekken)|Devil Kazuya]] or [[Jin Kazama#Devil Jin|Devil Jin]]), or the "Devil Gene" seems to have a connection with Ogre. In [[Tekken 4]], Heihachi needs both the genes of Devil and Ogre to create the ultimate life form. In [[Tekken 5]]'s Devil Within mode, the presence of Ogre is enough to trigger Jin's "Devil Gene".

*Ogre is stated to have connections with the ancient Aztecs, where he was worshiped as a "Fighting God".

*In "Devil Within" mode in [[Tekken 5]], the latter three stage of the game are based on Ogre's lair. Here, the enemies are humanoid monsters. It is unknown what connections these creatures have to Ogre.

===Rivals===
Ogre does not seem to have any real rival or anything that it would consider an enemy. It is described as only wanting to absorb all living things. It has attacked and killed various fighters in the series.

*The first [[King (Tekken)|King]] from Tekken and Tekken 2 was one of Ogre's victims and was presumably killed.

*[[Armor King]] was a rival and friend to the original King and trained King's successor to avenge the death of his friend.

*[[List of characters in the Tekken series#Baek Doo San|Baek Doo San]] was attacked by Ogre and was believed to be killed until Baek was revealed to have survived the encounter in his Tekken 5 prologue. According to that, he had been in a coma for over a year.

*[[Hwoarang]] was Baek's student's at his dojo. His Tekken 3 profile states that he found his master's dojo a wreck, after hearing about the disappearance of world renowned martial artists. Hwoarang swore to avenge his master.

*[[Jun Kazama]] was attacked by Ogre near her home. Jin's Tekken 3 profile states that she had disappeared without a trace.

*[[Jin Kazama]] swore revenge against the monster who "killed" his mother.

*[[Devil (Tekken)|Devil]] is seen fighting True Ogre in True Ogre's ending cutscene in Tekken Tag Tournament. Also, in the fight before the final boss, True Ogre will always fight Devil. Since Tekken Tag Tournament , it is unknown what connection Ogre has to Devil, if any.

:Ogre and Devil Kazuya are shown fighting with each other while flying in the air. Devil fires his eye beam and Ogre uses its fire breath. Before one of Devil's beams can touch True Ogre, it instantly teleports behind Devil and then brings him down. Finally, it flies away and breathes fire on Devil.

==Fighting Style==
Ogre's fighting style in its first two forms are a combination of seemingly random moves from various other Tekken characters. He has many moves from characters such as [[Wang Jinrei]], [[List of characters in the Tekken series#Bruce Irvin|Bruce Irvin]], [[Jun Kazama]], [[Kazuya Mishima]], [[Armor King]], [[Anna Williams (Tekken)|Anna Williams]], [[Kuma (Tekken)|Kuma]], [[List of characters in the Tekken series#Baek Doo San|Baek Doo San]] and [[List of characters in the Tekken series#Jack|Jack]]. It has two unique moves. The first one is called "Serpent's Venom", and the second one is called "Ancient Power", which acts like a counter move.

Its second form (True Ogre) is capable of breathing fire (possibly a reference to the eye beams used by [[Devil (Tekken)|Devil]] and [[Devil (Tekken)#Angel|Angel]] in ''[[Tekken 2]]'') and teleporting. It cannot use the move "Ancient Power" in this form, but it has a new low parry grab based on [[Kuma (Tekken)|Kuma]]'s "Bear's Bite" throw.

In all of its forms, Ogre seems to exhibit a type of telekineses. In many of its throws, Ogre swings around its foe without physically grabbing them. It also possesses the ability to fly, even without its wings. Ogre never uses this ability during a fight however.
