Shane Dawson (born Shane Manua Yaw, July 19, 1988) is a YouTube comedian and actor. Dawson is known for making comedy videos featuring recurring characters, impersonations and spoofs of popular music videos [1]. His YouTube channel is the third most subscribed channel of all time [2], with over 1.5 million subscribers.[3] Dawson has since expanded his presence on YouTube by adding a second sketch comedy channel.[4]

Dawson's career began when he and several friends would turn in videos instead of homework in high school. Eventually, teachers would trade tapes with the students, and ask for personal copies of what was filmed. Dawson's first videos on Youtube were old assignments that he turned in during high school.[5]

In 2010, Forbes magazine named him their 25th most famous web celebrities [1] and he was featured on Attack of the Show![6]. He recently revealed he had auditioned for a role in Scream 4, and even got a callback[7]. A few days later he hinted that he got a part, claiming that he "just got some amazing news" regarding his acting career, which he posted on his Twitter.

Youtube Channels

Shane posts new videos on his [8] main channel every Saturday, and VLogs on ShaneDawsonTV2 throughout the week. He often has a topic of the day, which is supported by skits that involve him and his characters. Shane also makes spoofs from time to time, such as Lady Gaga's Bad Romance (Bad Bromance) and Telephone and Kanye West's Stronger and multiple movies and TV shows, such as Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Dawson's Creek. He has another YouTube channel, [2], where he posts unedited videos from his iPhone. He got this channel because he wanted a much more personal place to post videos. These videos are much shorter and completely unedited. Shane has over 1.5 million subscribers on his main channel, 1 million subscribers on his second channel and almost 200,000 on his third channel. Shane Dawson is currently the 3rd most subscribed person on YouTube coming behind Fred Figglehorn and nigahiga.
