Sylvain Chavanel (born on June 30, 1979) is a French professional road bicycle racer. He was born in Châtellerault and currently resides there. His brother Sébastien Chavanel is also a cyclist.

He started his professional career in 2000 with Jean-René Bernaudeau's team Bonjour, which then became Brioches La Boulangère in 2003. He is currently with Cofidis. Now he is going for 2 years to the Belgian team Quick Step.
