Hiccup and Astrid

So there's been a bit of back and forth with the status of Hiccup and Astrid's relationship status, so I figured we should hash that out here in Talk to head off any further edits and reverts... my take on it is based on a scattering of episodes from the TV shows, so it may not be complete / up to date. In the shows, they are consistently referred to as boyfriend & girlfriend, so I assume that should be considered valid. Over the course of the show, they become 'betrothed', which I assume is similar enough to being engaged, so we could definitely say they are betrothed, possibly that they are engaged. However, there has been no talk of them actually getting married at any point, so I would say it's premature to say that they are 'future husband / future wife' or anything of that sort.
