Purpose[edit]

The script adds a warning if the edit is about to be saved with an empty edit summary.

Use[edit]

This script just saves you from your worst self.

If the mouse pointer hovers over the Publish changes button while the edit summary is still blank, then the edit summary input field is highlighted with a big red border.

Prerequisites[edit]

None.

Installing[edit]

Add the following line to your common.js file.

{{subst:Lusc|User:GhostInTheMachine/NoEditSummary.js'}}

Notes[edit]

The script was stolen from User:SD0001 following a discussion on the Village Pump back in October 2020.

This issue has surfaced in various forms many times. Just a few references:
