Link spam brigade
I would like to invite other Wikipedians to join me in an effort to police Wikipedia for link spam. I'll be outlining some plans and goals at User:Jdavidb/Linkspam and possibly eventually starting a new Wikipedia:WikiProject.

Copyright crusades
I am upset that there are so many websites out there ripping off Wikipedia content by not following the GNU FDL. I face the possibility of stiff penalties if I do not follow copyright law. I want to use copyright law to ensure that my work gets distributed properly far and wide. Please see User_talk:Jdavidb/Copyright where I will track my progress in contacting non-compliant sites.

Link spam crusades
When I see somebody who has gone around aggressively adding self-serving links, I really get mad. I'm likely to check somebody's full contribution history (including multiple anonymous IPs) and revert it all.

I've got sites that pertain to some material on Wikipedia, but I do not add those sites to External links sections myself. That's just self-serving.

And it's unconscionable for someone who doesn't even use Wikipedia regularly to run around doing this. It's just link spam and search engine gaming. We are not amused, and we are not fooled.

In general, this activity occurs on many pages I won't have previously been watching. Occasionally, the regular editors of those pages may decide that a link spam I removed was relevant. In that case, I will definitely defer to those better informed editors.

If you'd like to discuss one of these link spam removals, please comment on my talk page.

paperlessarchives dot com
Somebody from paperlessarchives dot com is adding their links in to many articles. In most cases people are catching this and removing it with comments about how it was a link to a commercial site. I regard it as a form of Wikispam and will be taking steps to remove this in places where I see it and it does not appear to have been caught. If you disagree with this policy in general or with a specific removal, please discuss on my talk page or on the talk page of the relevant article.

Same for entertainment dash news dot com
Same thing for this site.

www.escapeallthesethings.com
Actually I found this site interesting to myself, personally. I even bookmarked one of their articles!

But it's clear that 196.40.85.92 was running around adding this link in to every place he could think of, and has never done anything else. Not acceptable.

If the people that regularly look at these articles want to add these back in, no problem.

BTW, one reason for my concern is that self-serving link spam is particularly eggregious in the subject of Christian eschatology, even if it's not of a commercial nature. Every little offshoot group has its own personal interpretation of these events and wants to hype them. They want to be the special ones to tell the world they've figured it all out and everybody else is wrong. Allowing somebody to go plaster links to his own site all over this kind of article means the chance of implying somebody's offshoot theory is mainstream.

I admit this site looks pretty relevant to the subject, and as I said I definitely found it interesting. On that standard alone I would usually keep it in. But these things weigh against it: the editor is anonymous, the editor has made few edits other than inserting his link, the site is clearly proud of the fact that it has figured out what other people allegedly have not, the site has decidedly non-mainstream theories such as additional planets and such.

I'm finding that very occasionally this anonymous user has already been reverted, usually unintentionally. I'm also thinking that a lot of the other links I'm seeing on this subject are likely additional self-serving link spam.

Main
My wife, Sarah, is very beautiful, and that's a completely NPOV statement.

I'm religious, a member of the Church of Christ. I enjoy the way Wikipedia's collaborative editing results in unbiased presentation of information. I enjoy editing articles, particularly about religious topics, to remove bias, either on the part of those who agree with me or on the part of those who do not. (As a member of the Church of Christ I'm in the unique position of often disagreeing with most of Christendom as well as other religions and atheists.)

I wrote an article on the Pauline epistles, which I hope you find to be a good example of NPOV.

I've also made several minor edits, to Ark of the Covenant, Reverend, and Atheism. My first edits came on Atheism, and I didn't know what I was doing, so I stuck notes straight into the text, which were promptly removed. At the time I thought they were removed by a biased atheistic author who assumed that since I obviously had religious knowledge I was biased, when in fact I was just correcting a factual error. Turns out he was simply moving my comments to the talk page. (I actually replaced a poor example of "religious Scripture which condemns unbelievers" with a better example, because the original example was based only on Jewish commentary of Scripture rather than what the Scripture said. I hope you'll find that unbiased.)

I'm also quite political, being a conservative, laissez-faire capitalist, pro-life, libertarian, so you'll probably see me making edits on related articles some day, too. In fact, I made a minor edit to the Free State Project article. Incidentally you might be interested to read the arguments from libertarians for life which explain why I believe EVERYONE should believe in legal protections for the unborn without reference to religious belief.

I wrote an article on the Well of souls.

I'm related to (but not descended from) Sir William Blackstone. I often joke that I'm related to the man who invented common law marriage. :)

My favorite new article I've created so far (and probably my favorite ever) is singing school. Being the son of a singing school teacher, I love singing schools and hope to teach them myself some day.
