Thomas H. Clancy, S.J., was a priest, political scientist, university professor, and television personality at Loyola University and WWL-TV, both in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. He authored a significant number of articles in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, specializing in English Catholic history. In his role as liaison between Loyola University and WWL-TV, Clancy had significant public visibility in the New Orleans metropolitan area.[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Clancy was born on August 14, 1942, in Helena, Arkansas, to parents Thomas Horner Clancy and Ruth Lewis Clancy.[1]
Career[edit]
In 1960 Clancy became a tenure track faculty member in the Department of Political Science at Loyola University.[2]
Clancy served as vice president for communications at Loyola University of New Orleans. His responsibilities included overseeing broadcasting operations for WWL-TV and WWL (AM), which at the time was wholly owned by Loyola University.[3]
In 1963 Clancy was for a time an editor for America Magazine, a Jesuit publication.[4]
