Hi, I'm known as Ziggy on here. Quite by accident, that. I was making an amendment when the login notice came up and I decided to create an account. Names I wanted to use were taken so I typed in Sigurd Hring as he was the reason for that first edit. As it happens, I'm a huge Bowie fan so Sigurd quickly became Ziggy, what else?

I live in England and I'm interested in history, especially the Viking Age. I'm gradually working through the medieval and Viking coverage so I'll keep making changes here and there but probably nothing too extensive in the short to medium term. I'm a big sport and music fan too so I may be seen across a wide range of subjects. I tend to stay clear of politics and religion – on those, I believe we should all seek common ground and work together, but my basic philosophies are equality and socialism. I may well help with geography and science articles. We shall see.

My musical interest is multi-genre so it's best to just say I like who I like. Including Bowie, of course. In sport, my main interest is football and I support the humble and homely Southport. I make a point of being unbiased in sport and, while friendly rivalry is fine, I'm totally against parochialism. All I'm interested in is seeing a good game. I've no interest at all in "celebrities" and prima donnas.

I am very interested in cricket and frequently attend matches at Old Trafford. For cricket purposes on here I was using a second account but I have decided to cancel that because you forget which one you are using and it becomes a pain in the neck. I am sticking with this account only.
