Lilian Bond[edit]

True, her obits say she was in the Follies. On the basis of this, and in the absence of strong evidence to the contrary, your edit is okay.

But I've not been able to find any contemporary news or entertainment stories that verify her appearing in the Follies or in any Ziegfeld production. I've combed Variety, Billboard, and other sources. I did find a mention in the September 18, 1926 edition of Billboard that reads as follows: "Miss Bond was selected last year for the Ziegfeld Follies in New York as the representative type of London Beauty, but a London contract prevented her acceptance." I also found this in the St. Louis Post Dispatch from 1929: "Lilian Bond, an English girl brought to America by Earl Carroll..." IBDB lists her first Broadway show as "Earl Carroll's Vanities [1928];" IBDB doesn't mention her appearing in any of the Follies productions. Granted, none of that means she conclusively didn't perform in the Follies, but it does raise strong suspicions.Bixly777 (talk) 02:37, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia follows WP:RS and not WP:OR. Both the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times record her as appearing in the Follies and as such, the statement is within wiki's guidelines. You should not be removing reliably sourced information, nor removing the citations that support the statement. If you wish to argue the point further, you should move what you have written here to the talk page of Lilian Bond to see if you can get WP:CON from the wiki community rather than unilaterally deciding what is reliable and what is not, which is an affront to wiki guidelines. 79.154.71.2 (talk) 10:06, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
