Hello, I noticed that you removed the last entry of CityHost411 new form of Chamber of Commerce from the Chamber of Commerce page, citing you needed references. Please see the article on August 10th 2007 from the newspaper Hometown News which discusses this system with quotes from city government officials. Spelling

You've made a number of "spelling corrections" to Transaction costs which are not spelling errors, but a different spelling of English; I assume this is an oversight. Special Interest in Banking and Bank of America in Particular

Hi there, today you've deleted three posts by the same IP address all critical of Bank of America. I notice that you also "cleaned up" and redirected posts critical of BofA multiple times over the last week, and seem to have special knowledge of the banking industry and BofA in particular. I'm curious why you did not redirect the three posts today to the BofA criticism site, and instead decided that it was more appropriate to censor the speech of the contributor. Given the consitent flavor of your editing activities and the fact that you question the now-deleted contributor's reliability, could you make any appropriate disclosures regarding your relationship to the industry? I don't mean this in any hostile way, and I certainly hope you don't feel as though it's an attack, but the editing pattern itself is what gives me pause. Howdy 76.21.118.224, welcome to Wikipedia. I encourage you to create a username to facilitate your future editing of the encyclopedia. My main areas of interest on Wikipedia are economics, architecture, and geography. These fields are related to my previous education and employment.

As far as banks are concerned, I have several on my watchlist, including: Bank of America, Wachovia, SunTrust, JPMorgan Chase, and Regions Financial. I've made major edits to these articles, when needed. If you review the edit history of each one, you may notice that Bank of America is subject to a much higher level of editing, especially by anonymous editors, than any of the other major banks. Many of these edits are of a hostile nature; they often link to anti-Bank of America sites or news articles, or they contain complaints about Bank of America's policies. Due to this high volume, I recently assisted in the creation of Bank of America controversies, which covers many concerns around Bank of America, and is linked from the main Bank of America article. The redirects and cleanup you refer to were part of the process of creating this article.

My goal with every article I edit is to ensure that they are compliant with Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines and Wikipedia:Manual of Style. When I see a new edit that is in violation of one of these, I first try to improve it if possible, but when I cannot, I delete it and try to explain why. I am not an authority and I cannot censor anyone. If you disagree with my edits, you may also improve on them or revert them. Eventually we will find a consensus and Wikipedia will be better off for it.

You didn't answer the original question regarding your relationship with the banking industry - could you you comment please? You deleted a comment I made about BoA wiring arrangements of which I have personl experience as a customer: I struggle to agree with your note that it is common practice in the business to have to visit a retail banking center to arrange a wire when my experience (and other banks web sites) suggests that it isn't the case. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mac64 (talk • contribs) 19:36, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Regardless of any relationship or personal experience with banks, Wikipedia's policy for inclusion is as follows:

“ The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. "Verifiable" in this context means that any reader should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source. Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. ” — Wikipedia:Verifiability

Monitoring the articles for Bank of America and nearly a dozen other banks, I have noticed the frequent addition of questionable statements to these articles, often by upset customers. In these cases I revert the edits and ask for reliable sources to be provided before reinsertion, per the policy above. In this specific case, you only need to provide reliable sources showing that:

1. "it is not possible to wire funds unless you physically visit a BoA retail center"
2. other banks do provide this service

Please read Wikipedia:Verifiability and do what you think is best.

Gay village

Please take some time to detail your issues with the article on the talk page of the Gay village article rather than just tag-and-run with a summary threatening content deletion. It has a long References section (though relatively few in the inline style which is not required), yet you have tagged it as original research and seemingly scattered fact tags randomly through the article (e.g. what cite is needed for the name of the article in the lede?). Thank you for your feedback. I will not delete the content myself, but I believe there is a real possibility that someone will do so as long as the article contains questionable unreferenced material. My fact tags weren't random; I read the article and tagged only the most controversial statements. I updated Talk:Gay_village#citation_style with more details for each statement tagged. I agree with Chris Griswold, the article suffers not from a lack of references but from a poor use of the ones it has. If my fact tags are inappropriate, I invite you to delete them and I will respect your decision.

Thanks for expanding on your concerns. I assure you gay ghetto is used frequently; you probably are ascribing a more negative connotation to the word ghetto than is intended especially compared to its use in the academic sense (one of the refs is a sociology paper from 1979 about the concept). Gayborhood was a new one to me and appears to be more regional (and I'm also skeptical about "increasingly"), but Google any of those three and you'll get plenty of hits. I have the article on my watchlist, but have made something like 4 edits to it ever (mostly vandal reverts) and it definitely could use some work. I'll do some cleanup and try to move some ref cites inline for the spots you marked as troublesome. AUTiger » talk 21:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
