Viken is a future county in Norway that is planned to be established on January 1, 2020. It will consist of the present counties of Østfold, Akershus and Buskerud, as well as Svelvik municipality in today's Vestfold, and Jevnaker and Lunner municipalities in today's Oppland.[1] The new county takes its name from the historic region of Viken, which in earlier times loosely referred to the areas around the Oslofjord, but the new county does not include large parts of the historic Viken, such as most of Vestfold, the historic center of Viken, Oslo, or Båhuslen. Moss became head of the county governor of Viken and Oslo on January 1, 2019.
