Şemsettin Mardin was one of the Turkish ambassadors.

Mardin was born in Egypt.[1] He was a member of very long-established family.[2] He was uncle to Arif Mardin and Betul Mardin.[1]

He served as the ambassador of Turkey to Lebanon from 1960 to 1962.[3] He married Reya Hanim, daughter of Ahmed Cevdet Pasha who founded the daily Ikdam.[1] Their son, Şerif Mardin, is an academic.[2] After retiring from diplomatic post, Şemsettin Mardin settled in Maadi, a district of Cairo.[1] He died there.[1]
