Žár (German Sohors) is a village and municipality (obec) in České Budějovice District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.

The municipality covers an area of 15.08 square kilometres (5.82 sq mi), and has a population of 331 (as at 2005).

Žár lies approximately 26 kilometres (16 mi) south-east of České Budějovice and 144 km (89 mi) south of Prague.
