Season 1925–26 was the 49th Scottish football season in which Dumbarton competed at national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the 27th time and the Scottish Cup for the 38th time.

Overview

With only 3 wins recorded by December, any hopes of promotion had long gone, but in the end Dumbarton finished 11th, out of 20, in the Second Division with 38 points - 21 behind champions Dunfermline Athletic.[1] There were a number of heavy defeats during the season, none more than the 1-11 trouncing from Albion Rovers on 30 January, which still remains as Dumbarton's heaviest league defeat.

In the Scottish Cup, Dumbarton reached the fourth round before losing out to Celtic.

Locally, Dumbarton were runners-up in the Dumbartonshire Cup, losing to Helesburgh in the final.

Elsewhere a benefit match was played against Clydebank.

During the season, 104 goals were conceded in all matches, the fourth time the unwanted 'century' had been broken.
