The 1932 Arizona State Bulldogs football team was an American football team that represented Arizona State Teachers College (later renamed Arizona State University) in the Border Intercollegiate Athletic Association (BIAA) during the 1932 college football season. In their third and final season under head coach Ted Shipkey, the Bulldogs compiled a 3–3–1 record (2–2–1 against BIAA opponents) and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 182 to 92.[1][2] Arizona State's team captain was RG Paul Griffin.[3] The Bulldogs finished (2-2) at home and (1-1-1) on the road. All home games were played at Irish Field in Tempe, Arizona.
Season Summary
Arizona State Teacher's College opened the season with a 26-0 home loss to Whittier at Irish Field. It marked the first ever meeting between the teams in school history. The Bulldogs ended in a 6-6 tie against NAU on the road. During the rivalry matchup in Tucson, ASTC dropped a 20-6 road contest against Arizona. The Bulldogs outlasted New Mexico State for a 7-6 road victory. Arizona State Teacher's College produced a 15-14 home win over Texas-El Paso in Tempe. The Bulldogs suffered a 20-6 home loss against NAU. ASTC closed the season with an impressive 43-0 home shutout victory over New Mexico. It marked the first ever meeting between the teams in school history.
The usual Arizona State Teacher's College offensive lineup included: (LE Landon Hardesty, LT Anson Cooper, LT Clarence Sexton, C Reid Calicoat, RG Paul Griffin, RT Don Pace, RE Vernon Tuckey, QB Cyrus Morris, HB Norris Steverson, FB Voman Fry, & HB Park Schuler). Bill Baxter & Bill Boyle was also on roster.
