The 1979 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 91st staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The championship ended on 7 October 1979.

The championship was won by defending champions Blackrock who secured the title following a 2-14 to 2-6 defeat of St. Finbarr's in the final. This was their 28th championship title, their fifth of the decade.[1]
