On July 4, 2022, a mass shooting took place in Highland Park, Illinois, during a Fourth of July parade about 10 minutes after the parade started at 10 A.M. At least one person was killed and multiple others were injured.[1] Witnesses reported that at least five bloodied people were lying on the ground.[2] A witness also reported that more than 20 shots are fired.[3]

Highland Park City officials, through their Facebook account, stated that the Fourth Fest event will be canceled and the Highland Park Police are responding to the incident at the downtown area of Highland Park.[4]
