Network Access Point (NAP) of the Americas (also called MI1)[1] is a massive, six-story, 750,000 square foot data center[2] and Internet exchange point[3] in Miami, Florida, operated by Equinix.
The facility is home to 160 network carriers[4] and is a pathway for data traffic from the Caribbean and South and Central America to more than 148 countries.[1]
The NAP of the Americas is built 32 feet above sea level and is designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane-level winds.[1] It serves as a relay for the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Telecommunications Service.[5]
