"Ruffneck" is a hip hop song recorded by American rapper MC Lyte. It serves as the lead single from her fourth studio album, Ain't No Other (1993). The song was produced by Wreckx-n-Effect members Aqil Davidson and Markel Riley.

The song became Lyte's first top 40 single, peaking at No. 35 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the third No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs of his career. It also reached No. 67 on the UK Singles Chart, this being Lyte's first appearance as a lead artist on a chart outside of the United States.

On November 30, 1993 "Ruffneck" became the first work by a female solo rapper to be certified gold by the RIAA, with 500,000 certified units.[1]

In addition to the song's success, Lyte received her first Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 36th Grammy Awards in February 1994, but lost to Dr. Dre's "Let Me Ride".
