Liturgusa is the type genus of praying mantids of the family Liturgusidae.[1] The genus consists of more than twenty species with a Neotropical distribution.[2]
Liturgusa behaviour is remarkable in that, in contrast to other mantids, they do not ambush their prey, but use an active hunting method at high walking speed.[3]
