Cash America International, Inc. is a Fort Worth, Texas, retailer which operates 859 (as of January 2015) pawn shops in the United States.

Operations

In addition to operating pawn shops, the company also provides check-cashing services and short-term unsecured loans (commonly referred to as "payday loans") both through its pawn shops as well as in self-standing facilities.

History

In 2010, it acquired Maxit Financial.[2]

On September 1, 2016 First Cash International completed a merger with Cash America for $994 million to form a new merged company. The new company allows each store to retain its branding and joint operations are run from the Cash America corporate location. FirstCash is now traded on the NYSE under the ticker FCFS. [3]
