Under the Skin is a 1997 British drama film written and directed by Carine Adler and stars Samantha Morton.

Plot

Under the Skin is the story of two sisters coping with the death of their mother. One sister, Rose (Claire Rushbrook), who is married and pregnant, manages to get on with her life. Iris (Samantha Morton) feels suffocated in her current relationship and her life spirals out of control once she leaves her boyfriend, Gary (Matthew Delamere).

Under the Skin received favorable reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a score of 87% based on 23 reviews.[1] The Guardian placed the film at number 15 on its list of the Best British Films 1984–2009.[2] In 2011, it was ranked number 80 in Time Out's list of the 100 best British films.
