Claudia Pulchra Major was the elder daughter of Appius Claudius Pulcher, consul in 55 BC, and the first wife of Marcus Junius Brutus,[1] the most famous of Julius Caesar's assassins. In 45 BC Brutus divorced Claudia, without stating his reasons, so that he could marry Porcia, who was the daughter of Cato the Younger and his first cousin.[2][3]
