Angela "Angie" Payne (born November 11, 1984) is an American rock climber.
Biography
Payne was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.[2] She began indoor climbing at the age of 11 and competed in a number of junior sports climbing competitions.[3] After moving to Boulder to attend college, Payne won three American Bouldering Series National Championships and two Professional Climbers Association competitions in 2003-2004.[4]
In the years 2004-2010, Payne completed the first female ascent of 17 bouldering problems graded v10-v12, leading up to becoming the second female to complete a confirmed v13.[3] In 2013, Payne won the Hueco Rock Rodeo.[5] In 2014 she sent her second V13, Freaks of the Industry, in Lower Chaos Canyon of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.[6]
